10 Hours!

Ethan slept for 10 uninterrupted hours Friday night! It was a little more difficult than usual to get him to fall asleep Friday night and ultimately ended up falling asleep around 8:30. For some odd reason he woke himself up at 9:30 wanting to eat. After nursing for only 10 minutes, he fell back asleep for the night. Next thing I know it's 7:30 in the morning and we STILL hadn't heard from him! I had Chris walk into Ethan's room to check up on just to find a smiley baby hanging out in his crib! Yay to Ethan for sleeping so long!

Excuse this House

Excuse this House

Some houses try to hide the fact
That children shelter there,
Ours boasts it quite openly,
The signs are everywhere.

For smears are on the windows,
Little smudges are on the doors.
I should apologize, I guess,
For toys strewn on the floor.

But I sat down with my children
And we played and laughed and read.
And if the doorbell doesn't shine,
Their eyes will shine instead.

For when at times I'm forced to choose
The one job or the other,
I'd like to cook and clean and scrub,
But first I'll be a mother.

2 Months!

********************** Edited 1/18 for doc. visit info.***************

Dear Ethan,

You're getting to be such a big boy! Today you're two months old and growing into such an adorable little guy. Over the past month you've learned how to do so many things that Mommy and Daddy often find themselves telling you to slow down! This month you celebrated your very first Christmas with your family and enjoyed every minute of it. You've also learned to show us that amazing little smile when we talk to you in silly voices and make faces (heck, I think I'd laugh at us most of the time too!) In the past two weeks you've also learned how to roll over from your belly to your back. At first I didn't get to actually see this with my own eyes because silly Maggie got in the way. However, a few days later, you proved your acrobatic abilities by rolling over three times in a row! What a talented little man!

Today was your first day with Dawn, your babysitter. Mommy had to go back to work today but I sure did miss you the whole time. I was so sad to see you leaving with Daddy this morning and I worried that you wouldn't be happy at the sitters. The day started off very well when I got a call from Daddy saying you slept during the entire drive there and that you were a very good baby. Dawn said you were a very well behaved little boy and enjoyed playing with your new friends Carter and Ryan. You just didn't like it when Dawn would rock you to sleep and then try to lay you down...then again, you don't like when anybody tries to do this! I think you'll have so much fun learning and playing with all the fun toys that you'll be surprised when Mommy comes to pick you up. You helped end my work day perfectly as well by showing me a huge smile when I picked you up. Such a sweet boy!

You go to the doctor on Monday to see how big you've gotten but I know already you've grown a TON since your last visit. You've outgrown all your newborn clothes and can fit comfortably in 0-3 month clothes. Today I put you in a Gerber 0-3 month onesie and the snaps came undone when I picked you up because you are so tall! I refuse to believe you'd have to wear a 3-6 month outfit...you're growing too quickly. As of right now you're still wearing size one diapers but they're getting a bit snug. The Velcro doesn't meet in the middle like it's supposed to but we haven't had any major leaks yet. I have a package of size two diapers just to be ready. I hope that's awhile from now.

You take a bath most nights and fall asleep shortly after your feedings around 8:00. I wake you up for one last feeding around 10:00 before I go to bed. You occasionally wake up once for a feeding in the middle of the night but for the most part you are sleeping through the night!!!!

Ethan, Mommy and Daddy love you very much and we look forward to what the future holds for you.

Such a Good Daddy

My hubby is such a good daddy. As soon as Chris walks in the door from work, he likes to hang out with Ethan. Usually that means bouncing on the yoga ball but tonight it meant staring at themselves in the bathroom mirror:
Sometimes they engage in meaningful conversations about life:
Ethan loves hearing all about how Mommy and Daddy met. His favorite story was about how Daddy framed a puzzle for Mommy one Christmas. But the sweetest conversation of all is when Chris tries to calm Ethan and tells his "Little Friend" how much he loves him.

Just Another Sunday

So many times I write in this blog it's because of some special event or big to do. So just to be different, I thought I'd tell you about our typical day. Today is the final day of a very long holiday weekend. Ethan went to bed last night around 10:30 and slept until 4:15. After feeding him for about a half hour, I placed him back in his crib, as always, and walked blurry eyed back to bed. Within minutes we hear grunts followed by an unusual cry. Little Man had decided it was time for a diaper change rather than sleep. So Chris took over the night duty of diaper changes and rocking back to sleep. We were finally able to fall back to sleep around 5:30.

Fast forward to 8:45 when Ethan decided it was time to wake up. He ate, played on his play mat, and rolled over three times!!!!! That's right, my little guy has learned how to flip from his belly to his back! He first did this yesterday but I didn't see it because Maggie walked in between us. I'm so excited that I was able to actually witness it today.

I've spent the day lounging in pjs while alternating between feedings, bouncing on the yoga ball, and attempting to watch a movie. We've been watching this movie for almost 3 hours now and are only and hour and 15 minutes into it! These little cat naps Ethan's perfected sure are fun...and I wouldn't change a minute of it.
